Currently, a total of 532,000 qualified positions in Germany remain unfilled. 
In the craft sector alone, there is a shortage of 112,000 professionals and 40,000 apprentices (according to the President of the ZDH).
By 2035, around 180,000 positions in the healthcare sector are expected to remain unfilled. (PricewaterhouseStudie)
 

These effects of demographic change are similar across Europe. Recruiting apprentices or skilled professionals from outside Europe—from third countries—offers German companies a valuable opportunity to address the shortage of skilled workers in the short and medium term.

Despite this situation, only 18% of companies are actively seeking personnel from abroad or third countries (Bertelsmann study).
