Our Story
THE SEED OF THE PROJECT – NURSING APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM
Since 2022, Holger Kaiser has focused exclusively on placing trainees from Kenya into the healthcare sector. The idea for the project was born through a friend—married to a Kenyan woman—who works at a hospital in Meppen. To date, over 350 Kenyans have successfully entered training programs, with an outstanding success rate and not a single dropout!
PROJECT EXPANSION
Over time, a flood of unsolicited applications from Kenya followed. In addition to trained nurses and doctors, many of the applicants were professionals with vocational training or university degrees from Kenya—seeking apprenticeships and employment across a wide range of sectors in Germany.
LAUNCH OF PROJECT RUKIA!
To meet the growing interest from Kenyan candidates, Martin Schmidt joined the initiative. In 2024, Schmidt & Kaiser GbR was founded, and the project was continued under the name RUKIA! – Future in Germany.
WHO WE ARE
Holger Kaiser and Martin Schmidt first met through professional handball in the German Bundesliga. Holger Kaiser spent 15 years as a coach and CEO at various Bundesliga clubs. Martin Schmidt was a professional handball player for 12 years with THW Kiel and also represented the national team. After his career, he took on responsibility for marketing and sales at Germany’s most successful handball club.
